There are a lot of people who use trampoline on regular basis. It can be for many reasons. You might be interested in doing some gymnastics or fancy flips. Or maybe it is for your kids to help them stay more active and agile. Whatever the reason is, you would always love to make sure it provides a good bounce.
If you have a new trampoline, you should note that the springs are tight and they will take some wearing and tearing before finally they start getting stretched. However, if you acquire an older one, here is how to make a trampoline bouncier. It can be used for newer ones too but it is always good to give your trampoline a little bit to settle and for springs to open up before you finally start altering it.
Figuring out the problems
There are three major problems that you can spot on your old trampoline to see why you lost the bounce.
First one is the loss of elasticity which you can figure out by taking a look at the slinky. If it doesn’t recoil well, you won’t be able to get a good bounce from it.
Secondly, you need to consider the condition of the spring. It can be a broken one or cracked one. If a single one of spring is not in order, you will lose the jump.
And lastly, you should look to spot any discolouration or rusting. It is a sign that your springs will not last for a long and maybe now is the time you start considering a replacement.
Make your trampoline bouncier
If you identify any of the above problems, maybe it is time to replace your springs. However, if they are all in order, you can simply make the following changes to make your trampoline bouncier. There are three different things you can try when you look for how to make a trampoline bouncier.
The most common solution to this is the criss-cross pattern. There is no need of purchasing any extra springs. Just rearrange the pairs and make sure that the two springs cross over each other to form an X. It will definitely increase the amount of bounce you receive.
If you have tried out the criss-cross or X pattern, maybe it is time you go for the V. It won’t make you purchase a lot of extra springs. Let the springs be attached on its original position. Just attach another spring to a rung, using every alternate one, and connect it to the frame, creating a V shape. At one side, every alternate rung will have an attachment of two springs while on the other side every alternate hole will hold two ends. However, this may make your jumping surface wear a little more quickly.
And lastly, we have the W pattern which offers the maximum bounce. In it, you attach three springs to every third rung, making a W. You can achieve this by making sure that the rung which is directly across the one to which you have attached three springs must only be connected with a single spring. And all the other rungs in the frame have two springs attached, creating a W pattern.
